The RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z zooms and focuses internally, so the barrel
never changes length — which is why it stays balanced on a gimbal and steadier in
the hand than an extending telephoto. Dual Nano USM motors drive Dual Pixel CMOS
AF independently of one another, and the optical design keeps focus breathing
minimal, so framing holds through a focus pull. A lockable iris ring sets
aperture directly.

Optics

18 elements in 15 groups, with two Super UD and one UD element working against
chromatic aberration and three aspherical elements for edge-to-edge sharpness.
Air Sphere and Super Spectra coatings counter flare and ghosting; a fluorine
coating on the front element sheds oil and water.
