Spanning a flexible telephoto range, the Canon EF 100400mm f/4.55.6L IS USM is part of Canon’s professional L-series lineup, designed for sports, wildlife, and long-distance photography. Its 100400mm reach delivers strong subject isolation and compression, while maintaining portability for a lens in this class.
The optical construction includes one fluorite element and one Super UD element to reduce chromatic aberrations, along with four aspherical elements to control distortion and spherical aberration. A floating elements system helps maintain consistent sharpness and image quality throughout both the zoom and focus ranges, from close focusing distance to infinity.
Image stabilization provides up to two stops of shake correction, improving handheld usability in lower light or at longer focal lengths. A ring-type USM autofocus motor delivers fast, accurate, and near-silent focusing, with full-time manual override for fine control. A secondary IS mode optimized for panning is also included for tracking moving subjects. An eight-blade diaphragm helps produce smooth background blur.
The lens includes a removable rotating tripod collar for stable mounting on tripods or monopods, and a zoom ring lock to help prevent unwanted extension during transport.
Compatibility includes full-frame Canon EF cameras as well as APS-C bodies, where it provides an equivalent focal range of approximately 160640mm. It also supports EF 1.4x and EF 2x teleconverters for extended reach.
Included items: front and rear caps, hood, and tripod foot.
Condition notes: light internal dust is present but does not appear in images. The zoom tensioning ring is partially functional but does not fully lock the zoom position; the lens can still slowly extend or shift (notably when pointed downward or inverted).
