18MP 3:4 Vertical Native Sensor: Riffing on the half-frame film format where cameras captured two vertical images per standard 35mm frame, the X-Half houses a vertically oriented 1-inch sensor. It natively shoots vertical 18MP stills and video, requiring zero cropping or camera rotation for social media layouts.
The “Film Camera” Blind Mode: For the ultimate analog experience, the camera can be locked into Film Camera Mode. You select a 36, 54, or 72-shot “roll” of film and a single Film Simulation. The rear screen shuts off, showing only a frame counter and zone-focus scale. Image previews are completely disabled.
The Delayed “Development” Experience: Just like real film, you cannot view your photos until you finish the roll and digitally “develop” them via the wireless Fujifilm companion app or by offloading the files to a computer. Once developed, the camera automatically generates a digital contact sheet complete with vintage film strip borders.
Mechanical Frame Advance Lever: Features a physical winding lever on the top plate. When shooting in Film Camera Mode, you must physically throw the lever to advance to the next frame before the shutter button unlocks. In standard shooting modes, pushing the lever against the chassis acts as a quick-review shortcut to display the last captured image.
