The Nikon AF VR Zoom-NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D ED is a far-reaching super-telephoto zoom lens engineered for full-frame FX-format and DX-format Nikon F-mount cameras (providing a 120-600mm equivalent focal range on DX sensors). Designed for wildlife, sports, aviation, and nature photography, it combines an expansive 5x zoom range with Nikon’s Vibration Reduction (VR) optical stabilization to counteract camera shake during handheld shooting at longer focal lengths or slower shutter speeds.

Optically, the lens incorporates three Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass elements to minimize chromatic aberrations, color fringing, and optical distortion, delivering high contrast and sharpness across the entire zoom range. The lens features D-type distance communication for accurate i-TTL flash and exposure calculations, an A/M focus switch for switching between autofocus and manual focus, a focus range limiter, and a physical aperture control ring. A non-rotating 77mm front filter thread allows seamless use of circular polarizers, while the included detachable rotating tripod collar provides stable support for monopod and tripod setups.
