It’s positioned as a step up from Zhiyun’s smaller Crane v2, supporting substantially heavier camera and lens combinations while retaining the intuitive handling that made the Crane line popular among independent filmmakers.
The Crane-2 supports camera and lens setups weighing up to 7 lb (3.2kg), giving photographers the ability to stabilize a wide range of mirrorless and DSLR bodies, including heavier setups with attached zoom or telephoto lenses. Cameras mount via an included Manfrotto-standard quick-release plate, and once balanced, the gimbal delivers 360-degree pan, 320-degree tilt, and 360-degree roll adjustment for smooth, fluid camera movement across all three axes. Battery life is rated for up to 18 hours on the supplied batteries, giving filmmakers strong endurance for extended, high-intensity productions and all-day shoots.
A rod-mount mechanical focus motor is included, controllable directly via the gimbal’s handwheel or an optional wireless remote, and can be aligned to a lens’s focus or zoom ring for follow-focus or zoom control. A support rod, USB cable, and two universal lens gear rings are included to attach the focus motor and adapt it to virtually any lens. For select Canon DSLRs and the Nikon D850 paired with compatible autofocus lenses, the Crane-2 also supports digital follow focus, letting photographers connect the camera to the gimbal via USB cable and control focus directly through the handwheel without needing the external motor.
Handling centers on an intuitive OLED display that shows connection status, battery level, and camera parameters at a glance, along with wireless control available through Zhiyun’s ZY Play smartphone app for iOS and Android. The gimbal package includes a hard-shell carrying case, batteries and charger, camera control cables, a tripod, and a shoulder strap for extended handheld or supported use.
