At the core of the TG-860 is a 16-megapixel 1/2.3-inch BSI-CMOS sensor paired with Olympus’s TruePic VII image processor, delivering a maximum resolution of 4608 x 3456 pixels. The camera features an ultra-wide-angle 21-105mm equivalent 5x optical zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/3.5-5.7, giving photographers a notably wider field of view than typical compact cameras, well suited to capturing expansive scenery, group shots, and tight indoor or underwater spaces. Handling centers on a 3-inch, 460,000-dot LCD screen that tilts up a full 180 degrees for easy selfies, along with a customizable front shutter release button (a two-stage design supporting half-press focus confirmation) and rear video record button, both of which can be reassigned to functions like monitor boost, LED, or super macro. A side tripod socket allows for vertical-orientation shots and balanced tabletop positioning.
