Designed specifically for video and filmmaking applications, the lens combines precise manual controls with a bright aperture that performs well in low-light environments and provides extensive control over depth of field.
The optical design incorporates hybrid aspherical elements to help minimize distortion and chromatic aberrations while maintaining sharpness and clarity throughout the frame. Rokinon’s Ultra Multi-Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting while promoting consistent color reproduction. Cine DS lenses are also color-matched to help maintain a consistent appearance when working with multiple lenses from the series.
A fast T1.5 maximum aperture provides strong low-light performance and allows filmmakers to create a shallow depth of field with pronounced subject separation. The aperture ring features a de-clicked design for smooth and continuous iris adjustments during recording.
Industry-standard geared focus and aperture rings allow the lens to integrate with compatible follow-focus systems, iris motors, and other cinema accessories. Rokinon’s Cine DS series uses consistent focus and iris gear positioning across compatible lenses, helping simplify lens changes when working with a configured camera rig.
Focus and aperture markings are displayed on both sides of the lens, allowing camera operators and focus pullers to easily view settings from either side of the camera. A minimum focusing distance of approximately 12 inches also provides flexibility when working with subjects at close distances.
The lens features a 77mm front filter thread for use with compatible filters and accessories. Its combination of cinema-oriented controls, a fast T1.5 aperture, and a versatile 35mm focal length makes it well suited for narrative filmmaking, interviews, music videos, commercial productions, and other video applications.
