Featuring a 24.2MP Exmor CMOS sensor and BIONZ X image processor, the a6400 delivers detailed images with an ISO range of 100-32000, expandable up to ISO 102400 for working in challenging lighting conditions.
For action and moving subjects, the a6400 offers continuous shooting at up to 11 fps with autofocus and auto exposure. Its hybrid autofocus system combines 425 phase-detection points with 425 contrast-detection areas covering much of the image sensor. Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF help maintain focus on moving subjects, making the camera well suited for portraits, events, sports, travel, and everyday photography.
Video capabilities include internal UHD 4K recording at up to 30 fps using the XAVC S format. The camera uses full-pixel readout without pixel binning for detailed 4K footage and supports S-Log2, S-Log3, and HLG profiles for greater flexibility when color grading. Full HD recording at up to 120 fps is also available for slow-motion footage, along with interval shooting for creating time-lapse sequences.

Built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC provide wireless connectivity with compatible mobile devices for image transfers and remote camera operation. A 3.5mm microphone input allows an external microphone to be connected for improved audio recording. The camera uses Sony NP-FW50 series batteries and can also be powered or charged through its USB connection.
