Featuring an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor, DIGIC 4 image processor, and Full HD video recording, the EOS 60D is well-suited for portraits, landscapes, events, sports, and everyday photography. Its ergonomic design, articulating LCD screen, and compatibility with Canon EF and EF-S lenses make it a practical option for a wide range of photographic applications.
At the heart of the EOS 60D is an 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor paired with Canon’s DIGIC 4 image processor, delivering detailed images with natural color reproduction and smooth tonal gradations. The camera offers a native ISO range of 100-6400, expandable to ISO 12800, providing flexibility when photographing in different lighting conditions. Its 14-bit image processing helps maintain subtle color transitions and detail throughout the image.
The camera features a 9-point autofocus system with all cross-type AF points, providing accurate focusing across a variety of shooting situations. Combined with a 63-zone dual-layer metering system, the EOS 60D evaluates brightness and color information to help produce consistent exposures. Continuous shooting at up to 5.3 frames per second makes it suitable for capturing moving subjects, sporting events, and action photography.
For video production, the EOS 60D supports Full HD 1920 x 1080 recording at multiple frame rates, including 24, 25, and 30 fps. Additional recording options include 1280 x 720 HD video at up to 60 fps and standard-definition recording. Manual exposure controls allow videographers to adjust shutter speed, aperture, and ISO for greater creative flexibility. An external microphone input with adjustable audio levels provides additional control over sound recording.
A standout feature of the EOS 60D is its 3-inch, 1.04-million-dot Vari-Angle Clear View LCD monitor. The fully articulating screen allows photographers to compose images and record video from high, low, and unconventional angles. It can also be rotated inward for protection during transportation and storage. The display supports Live View shooting, image playback, menu navigation, and camera setting adjustments.
The camera incorporates a pentaprism optical viewfinder with approximately 96% frame coverage, providing a bright and clear view for composing photographs. A built-in electronic level assists with maintaining straight horizons, making it particularly useful for landscape and architectural photography.
Canon’s in-camera image processing features provide additional creative flexibility, including RAW image processing, image resizing, and various creative filters. Effects such as Grainy Black-and-White, Soft Focus, Toy Camera, and Miniature Effect allow photographers to experiment with different visual styles directly in the camera.
The EOS 60D records photographs and video to SD, SDHC, and SDXC memory cards, providing convenient storage options. Its HDMI output allows users to connect the camera to compatible external displays for viewing photographs and video footage. The camera also features a built-in pop-up flash and a hot shoe for attaching compatible Canon Speedlite flashes.
Designed for Canon EF and EF-S lenses, the EOS 60D provides access to a broad selection of compatible optics, including wide-angle, standard zoom, telephoto, macro, and specialty lenses. This flexibility allows photographers to adapt their equipment to different shooting environments and creative requirements.
Combining an 18MP APS-C sensor, responsive autofocus, Full HD video capabilities, and a fully articulating LCD screen, the Canon EOS 60D remains a capable DSLR camera for photographers and videographers seeking a versatile camera system with extensive manual controls.
