Profoto A2 Monolight

The Profoto A2 Monolight is a compact and portable battery-powered flash designed for photographers seeking professional lighting performance in a lightweight and convenient form factor. Delivering 100Ws of flash power, the A2 combines advanced wireless connectivity, intuitive controls, and compatibility with Profoto’s extensive lighting ecosystem. Its small size makes it particularly well-suited for portrait photography, weddings, events, product photography, and location shoots where portability and flexibility are essential.

Designed for photographers who frequently work outside traditional studio environments, the Profoto A2 offers a compact construction that allows it to fit easily into a camera bag or small equipment case. Despite its portable size, the light delivers 100Ws of output, providing photographers with the flexibility to illuminate subjects, balance ambient light, and create controlled lighting setups in a variety of shooting conditions.

The A2 features a built-in reflector and optical lens designed to produce a natural light spread with smooth falloff. This design helps create even illumination while maintaining the flexibility needed for portrait, fashion, and commercial photography. Its straightforward operation makes it suitable for both single-light arrangements and more elaborate multi-light configurations.

Equipped with Profoto’s AirX wireless connectivity, the A2 supports remote operation through compatible Profoto Air, AirTTL, and Connect Pro transmitters. This wireless system allows photographers to adjust flash output and synchronize lighting directly from compatible camera-mounted transmitters. Built-in Bluetooth connectivity also enables integration with supported mobile devices for additional wireless control and smartphone photography applications.

The Profoto A2 is compatible with the Profoto Clic light-shaping system, allowing photographers to attach magnetic accessories for modifying light quality, direction, and spread. Compatible modifiers include diffusion domes, grids, gels, and other Clic accessories, providing flexibility for creating different lighting effects without requiring large or complicated mounting systems.

A built-in LED modeling light provides continuous illumination for previewing light placement and shadow direction before capturing an image. This feature is particularly useful when positioning the flash for portraits, product photography, or other applications where precise lighting adjustments are important.

The A2 features rapid flash recycling and is capable of delivering up to approximately 400 full-power flashes per battery charge under specified operating conditions. Its rechargeable battery system is compatible with select Profoto A-series flash batteries and chargers, making it convenient for photographers who already use compatible Profoto lighting equipment.

An intuitive control interface with a high-resolution display provides convenient access to flash settings and operating information. The streamlined design allows photographers to adjust lighting output and other functions without navigating complicated menus, making the A2 especially practical for fast-paced shooting environments.

The monolight supports a removable stand adapter with an integrated umbrella holder, allowing it to be mounted on compatible light stands and used with traditional umbrella-style lighting modifiers. This flexibility makes it suitable for both portable location setups and more controlled studio environments.

The Profoto A2 can be incorporated into existing Profoto lighting systems, providing a compact additional light source for accent lighting, background illumination, hair lighting, or portable key-light applications. Its wireless capabilities and compatibility with Profoto accessories make it a versatile option for photographers working with multiple lighting configurations.

Combining 100Ws of flash power, advanced wireless connectivity, magnetic light-shaping compatibility, and a compact battery-powered design, the Profoto A2 Monolight offers a practical lighting solution for photographers seeking professional flash performance in a highly portable package.
