OM SYSTEM OM-3 Mirrorless Camera

The OM SYSTEM OM-3 Mirrorless Camera is a retro-styled Micro Four Thirds camera combining a classic all-metal design with modern creative controls, built to deliver flagship-level performance, customizable creative tools, and advanced video capabilities. It’s well suited to street photography, cityscapes, travel, and urban nature scenes, bringing much of the core imaging technology from the OM System flagship OM-1 Mark II into a smaller, lighter body.

At the core of the OM-3 is a 20.4MP Four Thirds stacked BSI Live MOS sensor paired with OM System’s TruePic X dual-core processor, offering a native ISO range of 200-25,600 (expandable to 80/100-102,400). Autofocus uses a hybrid Quad Pixel AF system with 1,053 cross-type phase-detection points covering 100% of the frame, with AI-based subject detection for humans, animals (dogs, cats, birds), and vehicles (cars, motorcycles, trains, aircraft), and sensitivity down to -5.5 EV. Continuous shooting reaches up to 120fps with single autofocus or 50fps with continuous autofocus, along with configurable Pro Capture pre-buffering.

In-body 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization delivers up to 7.5 stops of correction with Sync IS (compatible lenses), or approximately 6.5 stops using the body alone. A 50MP handheld or 80MP tripod-based High Res Shot composite mode, along with Live ND and other computational photography tools accessible via a dedicated Computational Photography button, round out the camera’s creative imaging features. A retro “Creative Dial,” inherited from the Olympus PEN-F, offers quick access to color modes, including monochrome profiles.

Video capability includes internal DCI/UHD 4K recording at up to 60p in 10-bit color, with OM-Log400, HLG, and OM-Cinema 1/2 color profiles, along with 12-bit ProRes RAW output via HDMI to a compatible external recorder. Handling centers on a 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (1.37x magnification, 100% coverage) along with a 3.0-inch, 1.62-million-dot fully articulating touchscreen LCD. The mechanical shutter reaches up to 1/8000 second, with the electronic shutter extending to 1/32000 second.

Build quality centers on an all-metal, weather-sealed body with an IP53 rating for dust and splash resistance, rated freezeproof down to -10°C. The camera includes a single UHS-II SD card slot, along with microphone and headphone jacks, micro-HDMI output, and USB-C (supporting PD charging). It measures approximately 139.3 x 88.9 x 45.8mm and weighs approximately 496g with battery and card (413g body only), powered by OM System’s BLX-1 battery rated for approximately 590 shots per charge (CIPA). Connectivity includes Wi-Fi (2.4/5GHz) and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy. The OM-3 uses the Micro Four Thirds lens mount, giving it access to lenses from OM System, Panasonic, and other Micro Four Thirds alliance manufacturers.
