The head uses full 3-way action, with each axis of movement (pan, tilt, and roll) controlled by its own separate locking handle, delivering precise, repeatable positioning with smooth, confident motion that stops exactly where directed. Large rubber knobs on each handle can be operated even while wearing gloves or mittens, and oversized handles feature calibrated degree indicators visible from the operator’s position for each axis. Three built-in bubble levels help confirm accurate horizontal and vertical positioning before shooting.
The head’s minimal, low-profile height keeps the effective center of gravity as low as possible, improving overall stability, particularly important when supporting heavier camera and lens combinations. A quick-release clamp and plate is included, fitted with screws for both standard camera mounting hole sizes (1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16), and the plate also includes a safety mechanism to help prevent accidental release.
