The Canon EOS 90D is an enthusiast-level APS-C DSLR positioned at the top of Canon’s double-digit crop-sensor lineup, offering an unusually high-resolution sensor paired with fast shooting speed and strong autofocus performance. It’s aimed at wildlife, sports, and travel photographers who want DSLR handling and battery life combined with meaningfully upgraded imaging and video capability over its predecessor, the EOS 80D.

At the core of the 90D is a 32.5MP APS-C CMOS sensor paired with Canon’s DIGIC 8 processor, delivering notable image clarity, resolution, and dynamic range along with a native ISO range of 100-25600 (expandable to 51200). For viewfinder shooting, the camera uses a 45-point all cross-type autofocus system (45 points at f/5.6, 27 points including 9 cross-type at f/8, with a dual cross-type center point at f/2.8 and f/5.6), with AF sensitivity down to EV -3. Live View and video autofocus rely on Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF system with 5,481 selectable AF points. Continuous shooting reaches up to 10fps.

Video capability includes UHD 4K recording at up to 30p, oversampled with full pixel readout for added detail, along with Full HD recording at up to 120fps for slow-motion capture. Connectivity includes built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless image transfer and remote camera control via Canon’s companion app. Notably, the 90D does not include in-body image stabilization, relying instead on Optical Image Stabilizer-equipped lenses for shake correction. The camera measures approximately 141 x 105 x 77mm and weighs about 701g. The 90D uses Canon’s EF/EF-S lens mount, giving it access to Canon’s full range of EF and EF-S lenses.
