The FUJIFILM X-E5 Mirrorless Camera (Black) is a rangefinder-style mirrorless camera designed for creatives who desire more tactile camera operation, pairing Fujifilm’s latest imaging core with a classic, dial-driven control layout. Announced in June 2025, it’s positioned as an everyday-carry camera that borrows much of its imaging technology from the X100VI and X-T50.
At the core of the X-E5 is a 40.2MP back-illuminated X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor (23.5 x 15.6mm) paired with Fujifilm’s X-Processor 5, offering a native ISO range of 125-12,800 for stills, expandable to 64-51,200. A lower base ISO of 125 and deep-learning AI-powered subject detection autofocus, covering humans, animals, birds, and vehicles, round out the imaging system, while the higher resolution also unlocks a two-step digital teleconverter, cropping into the sensor for an in-camera 1.4x or 2x zoom. Autofocus uses a 425-point intelligent hybrid system, and continuous shooting reaches up to 8fps with the mechanical shutter, or 13fps with the electronic shutter.
Five-axis sensor-shift in-body image stabilization is rated for up to 7.0 stops of correction (CIPA standard), notably strong for a camera this size. Video capability includes internal 6.2K recording at up to 30p, along with 4K up to 60p and Full HD slow motion up to 240fps, recorded in H.264 and H.265 formats with Long GOP or All-Intra compression at bitrates up to 200Mb/s, plus 12-bit RAW output via HDMI to a compatible external recorder.
Handling centers on a dedicated Film Simulation dial on the top plate, for the first time in X Series history machined from a single piece of aluminum, offering quick access to Fujifilm’s preset film stocks along with three user-customizable “recipe” settings, alongside twin clickable command dials. A 2.36-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (0.62x magnification, 100% coverage) pairs with a 3.0-inch, 1.04-million-dot three-way tilting touchscreen LCD. The camera shoots RAW, JPEG, HEIF, and TIFF stills, with a mechanical shutter topping out at 1/4000 second and an electronic shutter reaching 1/180,000 second, plus a 1/180 second flash X-sync speed via the external hot shoe (there is no built-in flash).
Build quality centers on a single UHS-II SD/SDHC/SDXC card slot, a 1/8″ (3.5mm) stereo microphone input, headphone monitoring via USB, and a micro-HDMI output, though the body is not weather-sealed. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and Bluetooth 4.2. The camera uses an NP-W126S rechargeable battery, rated for approximately 310 shots per charge, and measures approximately 124.9 x 72.9 x 39.1mm, weighing approximately 445g with battery and card. The X-E5 uses Fujifilm’s X-mount lens system, giving it access to Fujifilm’s full range of native XF and XC lenses.
