Twin-lens reflex cameras use two separate lenses of matched focal length — one for viewing and composing through a ground glass screen on the top of the camera, and one for exposing the film — allowing the photographer to frame and focus at waist level without interrupting the view during exposure. The 620 film format is dimensionally similar to 120 medium format film but wound on a narrower spool, and 120 film can be used with appropriate respooling onto 620 spools. The medium format negative size produces significantly more detail and tonal gradation than 35mm film, making it a capable platform for portrait, landscape, and studio photography.
