The Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II is an agile, lightweight standard zoom lens engineered specifically for Nikon DX-format digital SLR cameras (delivering a versatile 27-82.5mm full-frame 35mm equivalent focal range). Built as an essential walkaround optic, this second-generation zoom covers the fundamental perspectives required for everyday documentation—transitioning seamlessly from 27mm wide-angle architectural and landscape compositions to natural 50mm documentary framing and flattering 82.5mm short-telephoto portraiture. Weighing just 7.2 ounces, it pairs effortlessly with compact DX camera bodies to deliver reliable optical performance without kit fatigue during long shooting sessions.

Optical clarity is driven by a proven 7-element in 5-group optical design incorporating one Extra-Low Dispersion (ED) glass element to curb chromatic aberrations and color fringing, alongside one hybrid aspherical element that corrects spherical aberration, astigmatism, and field curvature. Nikon’s Super Integrated Coating (SIC) is applied to all optical surfaces to optimize light transmission and suppress ghosting and internal flare when working against bright backlighting. Autofocus is powered by Nikon’s compact Silent Wave Motor (SWM), providing responsive, smooth, and whisper-quiet autofocusing suitable for candid street captures and HD video recording. Featuring a rounded 7-blade diaphragm that renders natural out-of-focus background blur, a tactile on-barrel Auto/Manual focus switch, and a non-rotating 52mm front accessory thread, this standard zoom provides dependable all-around utility in top-tier shape.

CONDITION DIAGNOSTICS & PHYSICAL NOTES

Included Components: STANDARD DX ZOOM LENS OUTFIT. Supplied with the Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II lens, front 52mm snap-on lens cap, and rear Nikon F-mount push-on dust cap. (Camera bodies, 52mm screw-in filters, dedicated bayonet lens hoods, and storage pouches sold separately unless pictured).

Exterior & Barrel Status: EXCELLENT CONDITION. The matte black composite barrel, ribbed rubber zoom control ring, forward manual focus ring, and composite F-mount bayonet show minimal to no signs of previous handling, with no deep scratches, dings, scuffs, or edge finish wear. All gold laser-engraved focal length indices, Nikon Silent Wave Motor badging, and barrel switch markings remain crisp, clean, and fully legible.

Optical Status: EXCELLENT CONDITION. Both front and rear external optical glass surfaces are pristine and completely free of scratches, scuffs, cleaning marks, haze, fungus, or element separation. The internal optical assembly is clean and clear with only trace, negligible dust specks typical of standard handling; bench testing confirms these specks do not impact resolving power, edge contrast, or color fidelity across working apertures. Factory Super Integrated Coatings remain immaculate.

Mechanical & Electronic Diagnostics: FULLY FUNCTIONAL. The internal Silent Wave Motor (SWM) autofocus drive acquires focus swiftly, accurately, and quietly; the physical A/M toggle switch clicks firmly into place; the zoom mechanism rotates smoothly across the 18-55mm range with uniform factory-correct resistance; the 7-blade rounded diaphragm stops down cleanly without sticking or oil residue; gold-plated Nikon F electronic contacts communicate Exif metadata and aperture commands reliably with zero camera error codes.
