Rent NowThe Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR is a versatile standard zoom lens designed for Nikon FX-format DSLR cameras. Covering a wide-angle to short-telephoto focal length range, this lens is well-suited for landscapes, portraits, travel, events, and everyday photography. Its constant f/4 maximum aperture provides consistent exposure throughout the zoom range, making it a practical choice for photographers seeking flexibility without frequently changing lenses.
Designed for Nikon F-mount cameras, the lens offers a 24-120mm focal length range on full-frame FX-format bodies and a 36-180mm equivalent range when used with DX-format cameras. The extended zoom range allows photographers to capture expansive landscapes at the wide end while providing additional reach for portraits and distant subjects. Its constant f/4 aperture also allows for consistent exposure settings when zooming between focal lengths.
The optical design incorporates three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements to minimize spherical aberrations, distortion, chromatic aberrations, and color fringing. These specialized elements work together to produce sharp images with excellent clarity and accurate color reproduction throughout the zoom range. Nikon’s Nano Crystal Coat and Super Integrated Coating further enhance optical performance by reducing internal reflections, flare, and ghosting, helping maintain contrast in challenging lighting conditions.
Equipped with Nikon’s VR II Vibration Reduction system, the lens helps minimize the effects of camera shake when shooting handheld. This stabilization technology provides up to 3.5 stops of compensation, allowing photographers to capture sharper images at slower shutter speeds, particularly when working in lower lighting conditions or at longer focal lengths.
A Silent Wave Motor (SWM) provides fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus performance, making the lens suitable for a wide variety of photographic applications. Full-time manual focus override allows photographers to make precise focusing adjustments without switching focus modes. The internal focusing design maintains a consistent lens length during focusing and contributes to responsive autofocus operation.
The lens features a rounded nine-blade diaphragm that produces smooth, natural-looking background blur, making it particularly effective for portraits and selective focus photography. Its durable construction and convenient zoom range make it a dependable option for photographers who require a versatile lens for different shooting environments.
Combining a flexible focal length range, constant f/4 aperture, optical image stabilization, and refined optical performance, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED VR is an excellent all-purpose zoom lens for photographers seeking versatility and consistent image quality.
