The Nikon Speedlight SB-800 is a powerful, professional shoe-mount flash engineered for Nikon FX-format and DX-format digital DSLRs as well as 35mm film SLRs. Introduced as the cornerstone of Nikon’s Creative Lighting System (CLS), the SB-800 delivers precise monitor pre-flash evaluation and balanced fill illumination through intelligent i-TTL flash control. Designed for event, wedding, portrait, and commercial photographers, it functions seamlessly as an on-camera speedlight or as a master commander unit capable of controlling up to three independent remote wireless i-TTL speedlight groups.
Offering broad versatility across camera generations, the SB-800 supports i-TTL, D-TTL, standard film TTL, Auto Aperture (AA), non-TTL Auto (A), Manual (M), Distance-Priority Manual, and repeating stroboscopic flash modes. The multi-angle zoom flash head tilts from -7° downward for macro close-ups up to 90° upward, and rotates 180° left to 90° right for versatile bounce lighting. A large, illuminated rear LCD provides clear status readouts, while built-in features such as Flash Value (FV) Lock, wide-angle diffusion panel, auto power-standby, and a metal mounting foot with a safety lock lever ensure reliable handling in demanding environments.
