The Revere Curv-A-Matic is a vintage film splicer produced by the Revere Camera Company of Chicago, Illinois, designed to join lengths of 8mm and 16mm cine film using film cement. The splicer features an automatic overlap mechanism, an exclusive Revere design that positions and overlaps the film ends automatically during the splicing process, minimizing handling of the film itself. Compatible with both regular 8mm and 16mm formats — including silent and sound film — it is not compatible with Super 8mm film, which was introduced after this model’s production run. The construction combines aluminum and steel with an art deco-influenced industrial design, and the unit includes cement bottles and a film scraper as part of the splicing setup. Film cement, which is required for operation, remains available from specialty suppliers.
