The Rode VideoMicro is an ultracompact on-camera directional condenser shotgun microphone designed to substantially upgrade audio capture over standard built-in camera microphones. Sized at just 3 inches in length and weighing 1.5 ounces, this microphone captures crisp, articulate dialogue and ambient sound without adding noticeable bulk to lightweight mirrorless setups, DSLRs, or mobile cages. Operating entirely on plug-in power (2V–5V) supplied directly through the host device’s 3.5mm microphone jack, the VideoMicro eliminates the need for internal batteries, charging cables, or gain switches, making it a reliable plug-and-play tool for run-and-gun documentarians, vloggers, mobile journalists, and indie filmmakers.
The capsule utilizes a cardioid pickup pattern that focuses on audio in front of the lens while suppressing background noise and off-axis room reverberation. Its durable all-metal aluminum chassis is finished in an anti-glare ceramic coating that actively rejects RF interference. Handling and mechanical vibrations from the camera are isolated by the included heavy-duty Rycote Lyre thermoplastic shockmount, which features a cold-shoe mount and a 3/8″-16 threaded socket for boompole integration. Complete with the Rode WS9 deluxe furry windshield to eliminate outdoor wind noise and the Rode SC2 coiled right-angle 3.5mm TRS dual-mono patch cable, this kit offers a dependable field-recording solution.
CONDITION DIAGNOSTICS & PHYSICAL NOTES
Included Components: COMPLETE ON-CAMERA AUDIO KIT. Supplied with the genuine Rode VideoMicro condenser shotgun microphone, authentic red Rycote Lyre suspension shoe shockmount, Rode SC2 right-angle 3.5mm TRS-to-TRS coiled patch cable, and genuine Rode WS9 deluxe furry windshield (gray). (Camera bodies, cold-shoe extension brackets, TRRS smartphone adapters, and boompoles sold separately unless pictured).
Exterior & Microphone Body Status: GOOD CONDITION. The ceramic-coated aluminum microphone barrel exhibits light cosmetic indications of standard field use, including minor surface scuffs and subtle finish wear along the barrel edges. Laser-etched Rode branding and serial markings remain clean, sharp, and fully legible.
Shockmount & Hardware Status: GOOD CONDITION. The red Rycote Lyre thermoplastic suspension mount is fully intact, supple, and crack-free, retaining firm clamp retention around the mic barrel. The camera foot slides cleanly into standard cold shoes, and the integrated 3/8″-16 brass thread is unstripped.
Windshield & Cable Status: GOOD CONDITION. The Rode WS9 deluxe furry windjammer features clean, full synthetic fur with an intact foam core and snug rear seal. The Rode SC2 coiled patch cable is supple with clean right-angle 3.5mm TRS gold-plated plugs, free of shorts, strain, or wire fraying.
Electronic & Operational Status: FULLY FUNCTIONAL. The condenser capsule requires 2V–5V plug-in power and delivers clean, full-frequency audio; signal transmission via the SC2 cable sends clean dual-mono signals to both camera channels with zero buzz, humming, or ground loop noise.
