Autofocus support is retained where compatible, including operation down to f/8 depending on the attached lens, and the converter introduces approximately a one-stop light loss.
Optically, the TC-1401 incorporates one Special Low Dispersion element to help reduce chromatic aberrations and preserve sharpness and color fidelity. The unit is also built with dust- and splash-resistant construction for use in challenging environments.
When attached, the converter increases focal length by 1.4×, making it a practical option for wildlife, sports, and telephoto work where extra reach is needed without carrying additional lenses.
Note: Autofocus performance may be limited or unavailable when used with lenses that have a maximum aperture of f/5.6 or smaller.
