The Sony Alpha a7R II is a full-frame mirrorless camera centered on a 42.4MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, delivering high-resolution output suited for landscape, studio, and fine art photography. The BSI sensor design improves light gathering efficiency, contributing to usable sensitivity across an expanded ISO range. A 399-point phase-detection AF system is built directly onto the sensor and works in conjunction with 25 contrast-detection points for reliable subject acquisition across a broad range of lighting conditions. Five-axis in-body image stabilization provides up to 4.5 stops of compensation, benefiting both native E-mount lenses and adapted glass via the LA-EA3 or similar adapters. The camera supports 4K video recording using full pixel readout in Super 35mm crop mode and full-frame with pixel binning, along with uncompressed HDMI output for external recording.
