Yashica 70-210mm f/4.5 ML Macro Zoom Lens (Contax/Yashica Mount)
Vintage Manual Telephoto Zoom Project Condition / Sold AS-IS (Internal Fungus & Dust)
The Yashica 70-210mm f/4.5 ML Macro is a classic, manual-focus telephoto zoom lens featuring the highly regarded Contax/Yashica (C/Y) bayonet mount. As part of Yashica’s premium “ML” (Multi-Layer) lineup, this lens was engineered with multi-coated glass elements to deliver excellent color fidelity, rich contrast, and effective flare control.
Covering a highly practical portrait-to-telephoto zoom range, it also features a specialized integrated macro function for close-up detail work. Housed in a heavy-duty, all-metal barrel, it is a favorite among vintage film enthusiasts and modern mirrorless digital shooters who enjoy adapting classic manual glass.
Please note: This lens is being sold strictly AS-IS for parts, repair, professional cleaning practice, or creative lo-fi experimental photography. The internal optical path contains visible fungus growth and dust. All sales are final.
Key Features & Classic Optical Architecture
Premium ML Multi-Coated Optics: Features Yashica’s advanced multi-layer coatings designed to maximize light transmission and retain frame contrast under standard lighting conditions.
Versatile Telephoto Span: Covers an adaptable 70-210mm focal range, making it a wonderful tool for flattering portraits, compressed landscape composition, and sports or wildlife capture.
Integrated Macro Capability: Equipped with a dedicated close-focusing macro setting, allowing you to capture high-magnification textures and small details with telephoto compression.
Robust All-Metal Barrel: Features an old-school, precision-machined metal housing with a dual-ring control system for smooth manual zooming and mechanical focusing.
Universal C/Y Mount: Natively matches classic Yashica and Contax SLR film bodies, and adapts beautifully to modern mirrorless digital systems via an inexpensive C/Y adapter.
Item Condition & Diagnostic Notes (AS-IS)
Optical State (Fungus & Dust): DEFECTIVE. Internal diagnostic inspection reveals visible branching fungus growth along with a standard accumulation of dust particles between the glass elements. This organic growth will scatter light, which can cause images to show a distinct “dreamy” softness, a loss of overall color contrast, and noticeable flaring when shooting directly toward bright light sources. This unit is an excellent candidate for technicians learning lens overhaul, or for photographers looking to embrace a low-contrast vintage pictorialist aesthetic. The glass is free of deep scratches or cracks.
Mechanical & Functional Performance: The manual focus and zoom rings rotate smoothly across their travel ranges with appropriate resistance. The mechanical aperture ring selects and clicks cleanly, and the internal diaphragm blades are dry and responsive.
Cosmetic Presentation: The exterior metal barrel is in good vintage cosmetic condition, displaying standard light surface scuffs, minor paint wear on the ridges, and normal signs of careful handling consistent with its age. The rear C/Y bayonet mount and front filter rings are structurally intact.
Included Accessories: Includes the rear lens cap. No front lens cap is included.
