The Panasonic Lumix GH5S is an ultra-low-light mirrorless camera body engineered specifically for professional videographers and filmmakers. Built around a 10.28-megapixel multi-aspect Digital Live MOS sensor paired with an optimized Venus Engine processor, the GH5S features Dual Native ISO technology (with base ISOs at 400 and 2,500) to deliver high dynamic range and low-noise video recording up to an extended ISO 204,800. Its multi-aspect design maintains native lens angles of view across 4:3, 17:9, 16:9, and 3:2 recording formats while suppressing rolling shutter distortion by 1.3x compared to the standard GH5.

Video capabilities include internal DCI 4K recording up to 60p (4:2:0 8-bit) and 30p (4:2:2 10-bit ALL-I at 400 Mbps), uncompressed 4:2:2 10-bit HDMI output via a full-size Type-A port, Full HD slow-motion capture up to 240 fps, 4K Anamorphic mode, and pre-installed V-Log L / Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) support. For stills, the camera captures 14-bit RAW files up to 11 fps (7 fps in AF-C) and 12-bit RAW up to 12 fps (8 fps in AF-C), alongside 60 fps 4K PHOTO modes. Focusing is driven by a 225-area Depth-From-Defocus (DFD) contrast AF system sensitive down to -5 EV.
