Rent NowThe Canon Remote Switch RS-80N3 is a simple wired remote shutter release designed for Canon EOS cameras equipped with an N3-type terminal, giving photographers a way to trigger the shutter without physically touching the camera. It’s aimed at reducing camera shake for super telephoto shots, macro photography, and long bulb exposures, and is also useful for photographing subjects that are difficult to approach.
The switch functions just like the camera’s own shutter button, supporting a half-press to activate autofocus and metering, and a full press to fire the shutter, all through a single release button on the device. A shutter-release lock allows the button to be held down continuously for extended bulb exposures without requiring the photographer to keep a finger pressed the entire time. When paired with a compatible camera’s mirror lockup custom function, the RS-80N3 can further minimize vibration for maximum sharpness in critical macro or telephoto work.
Connection is via a fixed 2.6-foot (80cm) cable terminating in a Canon N3-type 3-pin connector, plugging directly into the N3 port found on Canon’s higher-tier EOS bodies. This N3 connector is compatible with cameras including the EOS-1 series, 1D series, 1Ds series, 5D series, 6D series, 7D and 7D Mark II, older bodies like the D30, D60, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, and 50D, as well as the EOS R5 among Canon’s mirrorless lineup. It is not compatible with Canon’s Rebel series or the EOS 60D and 70D, which lack the N3 terminal.
