Neewer NS92P Quick Release Octagonal Softbox

The Neewer NS92P Quick Release Octagonal Softbox is a 35.4-inch (90cm) octagonal light modifier designed to soften and shape light from a compatible strobe or continuous LED source, giving photographers a controlled, flattering catchlight well suited to portrait, wedding, fashion, video, and interview work. Its octagonal shape produces natural-looking, rounded catchlights in a subject’s eyes, a quality favored by portrait photographers over the more angular catchlights produced by square or rectangular softboxes.

The softbox features a smooth, even silver internal coating on thickened nylon (Oxford) fabric, broadening, diffusing, and softening light output while retaining true-to-life color rendition. Two included diffusion panels, a front layer and an inner baffle, can be used together for maximum softness or individually for a slightly more direct, contrastier look, giving photographers flexibility over the final light quality. A 45-degree honeycomb grid is also included, secured with hook-and-loop fasteners, narrowing the beam spread for more directional, controlled light when spill needs to be minimized.

A standout feature is the softbox’s quick-release design: eight durable, collapsible ribs pre-attach to a folding structure that opens and locks into position in seconds without assembling individual rods, and folds back down just as quickly by pushing the latches on the mounting plate and folding the ribs inward, a notably faster setup and breakdown than traditional rod-based softboxes. The ribs are rated to withstand tens of thousands of open-close cycles without deformation.

The softbox connects via a Bowens-style speed ring, giving it broad compatibility with a wide range of Bowens-mount strobes and continuous LED lights from brands including Aputure, Godox, and Neewer’s own CB- and MS-series lights, among others. Build quality includes a lightweight nylon and aluminum alloy construction, with the complete softbox weighing approximately 2.4 lb (1108g) and folding down to about 29.1 x 6.3 x 2.6 inches for storage.
