Rent NowThe FUJIFILM GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR is a compact and versatile standard prime lens designed for FUJIFILM G-mount GFX medium format mirrorless cameras. Offering a 50mm equivalent focal length, this lens provides a natural field of view that makes it well-suited for portrait, street, travel, documentary, and everyday photography. Its lightweight design and bright f/2.8 maximum aperture make it a practical choice for photographers seeking high-quality optics in a portable form factor.
The optical design consists of 10 elements in eight groups, including one extra-low dispersion element that helps minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing. This construction delivers excellent sharpness, accurate color reproduction, and clarity throughout the aperture range. The lens also utilizes a front-group focusing system designed to maintain consistent optical performance and minimize distortion across the focusing range.
With a maximum aperture of f/2.8, the GF 63mm provides flexibility when working in available light while allowing photographers to control depth of field for subject separation. Its rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth, natural-looking bokeh, making it particularly effective for portraits and compositions where a softly blurred background is desired.
A dedicated physical aperture ring provides intuitive control over exposure settings, allowing photographers to make adjustments directly on the lens. The ring also includes a C (Command) position, enabling aperture adjustments through the camera body for additional flexibility depending on shooting preferences.
Designed for reliable performance in demanding environments, the GF 63mm features dust- and weather-resistant construction and is rated for operation in temperatures as low as 14°F. A fluorine coating on the front element helps repel moisture and makes cleaning easier when working outdoors. Its compact construction complements the portability of the GFX system, making it a convenient lens for extended shooting sessions and location photography.
Combining a natural perspective, refined optical performance, and durable construction, the FUJIFILM GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR is an excellent general-purpose prime lens for photographers looking to take full advantage of the image quality offered by the GFX medium format system.
