The optical design includes 16 elements in 12 groups, featuring one aspherical element, one Super ED element, and four extra-low dispersion elements, all finished with Super EBC coating to control flare and ghosting while preserving contrast and color accuracy. A fluorine coating on the front element helps repel moisture, dust, and smudges, complementing the lens’s fully weather-resistant construction for shooting in demanding outdoor conditions.

Autofocus is handled by an internal linear motor, delivering fast and quiet focusing even at the lens’s minimum focusing distance of 25cm. Built-in optical image stabilization provides up to 5 stops of correction, making handheld macro and telephoto shooting more practical in lower light or at slower shutter speeds. The lens also features a nine-blade rounded iris diaphragm for pleasing background blur, along with a traditional aperture ring on its high-grade metal barrel for tactile manual control.

This lens is compatible with FUJIFILM’s XF 1.4x TC WR and XF 2x TC WR teleconverters, extending its effective focal length to 171mm or 244mm respectively for even greater telephoto reach.
