The FUJIFILM GFX 100S II Medium Format Mirrorless Camera continues to push the boundaries of medium format photography, pairing a newly developed 102-megapixel sensor with the X-Processor 5 engine in an ergonomic, comparatively compact body. It’s designed to give passionate creatives an immersive large-format shooting experience without the size and weight typically associated with medium format systems.
At the core of the GFX 100S II is a 102MP GFX CMOS II sensor (43.8 x 32.9mm, 0.79x crop relative to a true medium format frame) with no optical low-pass filter, paired with faster readout than the original GFX 100S, enabling improved burst shooting and reduced rolling shutter. The sensor offers a native ISO range of 80-12,800 (expandable to 40-102,400), capturing images at up to 11,648 x 8,736 resolution in the native 4:3 aspect ratio. Autofocus uses a hybrid system with 3.8 million phase-detection pixels across 425 selectable points, supporting single-area, multi-area, wide, zone, and tracking modes, along with AI-assisted subject detection for people, animals, birds, and vehicles, with sensitivity down to -5.5 EV (at f/1.7).
In-body 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization delivers up to 8 stops of correction (CIPA standard), among the strongest stabilization ratings in any camera. A 400MP pixel-shift multi-shot mode combines a series of exposures in-camera into one exceptionally high-resolution composite RAW file, well suited to studio, product, and landscape work where maximum detail matters. The mechanical shutter ranges from 1/4000 second up to 60 minutes.
Video capability includes internal 4K recording at up to 30p with 4:2:2 10-bit color, along with Full HD recording up to 60p at bitrates up to 720Mbps, F-Log and Hybrid Log Gamma support, and 12-bit ProRes RAW output. Handling centers on a 5.76-million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (0.84x magnification, 23mm eyepoint, -4 to +2 diopter adjustment) along with a 3.2-inch, 2.36-million-dot three-way tilting touchscreen LCD. The camera includes dual UHS-II SD card slots, a hot shoe with 1/125 flash sync, and headphone and microphone jacks.
Build quality includes a dust- and weather-sealed body rated to operate in temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C), with the distinctive BISHAMON-TEX finish shared with the flagship GFX 100 II. The camera measures approximately 150 x 104.2 x 87.2mm and weighs approximately 883g with battery and card, powered by an NP-W235 battery rated for approximately 530 shots per charge (CIPA standard). Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy and Wi-Fi for remote control and image transfer, along with USB 3.2 Gen 2. The GFX 100S II uses Fujifilm’s G-mount lens system.
