The Manfrotto 685B NeoTec Pro Photo Monopod with Safety Lock is a rapid-deployment monopod built for photographers who need quick, one-handed height adjustment in fast-moving shooting situations, such as sports, events, and photojournalism. It features Manfrotto’s innovative NeoTec opening and closing mechanism, letting the leg extend simply by pulling down on it, with no screws, knobs, or levers to tighten.

The monopod automatically locks into position at any height, with locking power that actually increases the more weight is pushed down on it from above. A safety lever prevents accidental deployment of the release mechanism, and closing the monopod is just as fast: activating the safety lever with the pinkie finger allows the grip-action handle to be depressed, keeping the entire operation one-handed. A lightweight rubber foot pedal further simplifies opening the monopod in the field, letting photographers step on the pedal and lift to the desired height.

Build quality uses a special aluminum alloy also used in the aeronautical industry, giving the monopod a strong, lightweight feel, with an “upside-down” leg construction that helps prevent water or mud from entering the monopod.
