Designed for full-frame cameras, the lens is also compatible with Nikon DX-format DSLRs, where it provides an approximately 225-750mm equivalent focal length range. Despite its extensive telephoto reach, the lens offers a versatile design suitable for both tripod-supported and handheld shooting.
Sigma’s Optical Stabilizer (OS) system helps reduce the effects of camera shake when working handheld, particularly at longer focal lengths and slower shutter speeds. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) provides fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus performance while also allowing convenient manual focus adjustment.
The optical design incorporates three Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements to help minimize chromatic aberrations and maintain clarity throughout the zoom range. Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating helps reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color reproduction when working in challenging lighting conditions.
A rotating tripod collar provides additional support and improved balance when using the lens on a tripod or monopod. The included lens hood helps reduce stray light while also providing additional protection for the front element.

The lens has some internal dust present, but no large particles are visible and the dust does not appear to affect images. The front element has some light scratches. The felt covering on the tripod foot is no longer present, leaving the standard lens finish exposed.
