Rent NowThe Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM is a fast medium-telephoto prime lens designed for Canon EF-mount DSLR cameras. Its classic 85mm focal length and bright f/1.4 maximum aperture make it especially well suited for portraiture, weddings, events, low-light photography, and situations where strong subject separation and shallow depth of field are desired.
Designed for full-frame cameras, the lens can also be used with compatible Canon APS-C bodies, where it provides an approximately 136mm equivalent focal length. The optical design incorporates Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass and a glass-molded element to help reduce aberrations while maintaining sharpness, contrast, and accurate color reproduction.
Sigma’s Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) provides fast, accurate, and quiet autofocus performance on compatible camera bodies. A rear focusing system helps maintain consistent optical performance throughout the focusing range, while Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating helps minimize flare and ghosting when working in strong or backlit conditions.
The large f/1.4 maximum aperture allows for faster shutter speeds in challenging lighting conditions and provides significant control over depth of field. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth, pleasing out-of-focus areas, making the lens particularly useful for portraits and other applications where background separation is important.
