The Sony FX3A is a full-frame cinema camera built around a 12.1-megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor, sharing its core imaging foundation with Sony’s professional cinema lineup while housed in a compact and lightweight body suited to run-and-gun and single-operator productions. It offers a native ISO range up to 12800, with expanded sensitivity reaching ISO 409600, providing strong performance in low-light environments. The camera records internally in XAVC-I and XAVC-S formats at up to 4K 120fps, with 10-bit 4:2:2 color output available over HDMI for external recording. S-Cinetone color science is built in alongside S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma profiles, offering a range of options for on-set monitoring and post-production workflows. The FX3A features Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF system with real-time Eye AF and subject tracking for humans and animals, drawing from the same autofocus technology found across Sony’s Alpha lineup. Five-axis in-body image stabilization is included, with an Active mode available for handheld shooting. The body features a multi-function shoe, full-size HDMI and USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and a multi-interface shoe for accessory attachment. Four built-in tally lamps aid in monitoring record status during solo operation. The camera uses Sony E-mount, providing compatibility with the full range of native FE lenses as well as adapted glass.
