Rent NowThe Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 is a compact and lightweight standard prime lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Its classic 50mm focal length provides a natural perspective that makes it well suited for portraits, street photography, travel, everyday shooting, and a variety of general photography applications.
The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture provides strong performance in lower-light environments while also allowing greater control over depth of field. When shooting at wider apertures, the lens can produce strong subject separation with softly rendered backgrounds. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm further contributes to smooth and pleasing bokeh.
The optical design incorporates an aspherical element to help reduce astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other optical aberrations. A double-Gauss optical configuration also helps control distortion and field curvature for more consistent image quality across the frame.
A DC actuator motor provides autofocus performance suitable for both still photography and video. The lens can focus as close as approximately 1.5′, providing additional flexibility when photographing nearby subjects.
Its compact and lightweight construction makes the FE 50mm f/1.8 an easy lens to carry for everyday use. A metal bayonet mount provides additional durability and a secure connection to compatible Sony E-mount camera bodies.
