The Olympus 40-150mm f/3.5-4.5 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens is a telephoto zoom lens designed for Olympus’s Four Thirds-system digital SLR cameras, delivering an 80-300mm 35mm-equivalent focal range on the system’s 2x crop-factor sensor. A new multi-coating process helps reduce ghosting and flare for improved contrast and color accuracy, and a 7-blade diaphragm contributes to the lens’s background rendering, with the f/3.5-4.5 brightness enabling effects like background blurring and perspective compression.

Autofocus is handled by an internal front-focus system with a floating element design, delivering reliable focus acquisition suited to general shooting, sports, and moving subjects. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 1.5m (4.92 ft.), yielding a maximum magnification of 0.12x (1:8.3), and uses a rotary, extending zoom design with front element rotation.

Build quality centers on a reliable metal lens mount paired with a textured, rubberized zoom ring, giving the lens a solid feel in hand. The lens accepts a 58mm filter thread, measures approximately 107 x 77mm, and weighs approximately 425g (15.8 oz.). It does not include optical image stabilization, relying instead on in-camera digital stabilization where available. A dedicated LH-61B lens hood is designed for use with this lens, and it’s compatible with Olympus’s TC-14 teleconverter and EX-25 extension tube for extended reach and closer focusing, respectively.
