The AKASO V50X 4K Action Camera is an affordable, budget-friendly action camera designed for adventurers, vloggers, and content creators who want smooth, high-quality video for skiing, snorkeling, biking, and other active pursuits, all backed by a comprehensive mounting accessory kit.

At the core of the V50X is a Sony CMOS image sensor capable of up to 20MP photo resolution (13MP effective), delivering native 4K video recording at 30fps, along with 2.7K at 30-60fps, 2K at 60fps, 1080p at up to 90fps, and 720p at up to 120fps for slow-motion capture (video is saved in H.264 or H.265 compression, with still photos saved as JPEG, with JPEG+RAW/DNG also available on some firmware versions). Six-axis Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS 2.0) smooths footage during fast-moving action, riding, and handheld shooting, and the camera’s adjustable wide-angle lens offers a field of view ranging from 70 to 170 degrees, with advanced distortion correction to reduce the fisheye effect common to action cameras.

Handling centers on a 2-inch IPS touchscreen display, allowing easy setting changes, mode switching, and footage preview or playback via simple swipes and taps (the touchscreen is not accessible while the camera is in its waterproof case). Additional shooting modes include Time-Lapse, Slow Motion, Burst Photo, Loop Recording, and a diving mode intended to compensate for the lack of red light in underwater scenes. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to the AKASO GO companion app for wireless file transfer, remote camera control, editing, and sharing, and the camera also supports an external microphone input along with remote control operation.

Build quality centers on a compact, lightweight body weighing approximately 80g, with the included waterproof housing rated for use up to 131 feet (40m), making it suitable for diving and other water-based activities. The camera connects via Micro USB and HDMI, and supports microSDXC cards up to 256GB (not included). Power comes from two removable 1350mAh rechargeable batteries, each rated for approximately 60 minutes of 4K recording, 90 minutes at 1080p, or 180 minutes at 720p.
