At its core, the RS 2 uses a monocoque carbon fiber axis design, giving the gimbal exceptional strength while keeping weight down to about 2.86 lb (1.3 kg), with a tested payload capacity of up to 10 lb (4.5 kg), offering one of the highest weight-to-payload ratios in the category. This makes it capable of supporting a wide range of cameras, including the Blackmagic Pocket 6K, Canon 1D X Mark III, Sony a7S III, and ARRI Alexa Mini LF, among others (photographers should confirm current camera and lens compatibility against DJI’s official list). The gimbal is about 25% lighter and more compact than its predecessor, the Ronin-S, thanks to its carbon fiber arms and a shorter grip handle with a smaller battery cartridge, while still maintaining a 12-hour battery runtime.
