Providing an 18mm full-frame-equivalent focal length, it’s aimed at landscape, astrophotography, street, interior, and vlogging use, offering a view expansive enough to take in an entire scene.
Optically, the lens is built from 14 elements in 12 groups, including three double-sided aspherical elements and two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements, delivering high resolution and crisp, edge-to-edge detail while limiting distortion and reducing color fringing and chromatic aberrations. Sagittal coma flare is also well corrected, an important consideration for capturing sharp, clean points of light in night sky and astrophotography work. The fast f/1.4 maximum aperture enables strong low-light performance and background blur, while a rounded 9-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth, pleasing bokeh.
Autofocus is handled by a stepping motor with minimized focus breathing, delivering fast, reliable autofocus performance well suited to both stills and video use.
