The Westcott FJ80-SE M is an 80Ws round-head speedlight designed to work across multiple camera systems, with TTL support for Canon, Nikon, FUJIFILM, Panasonic Lumix, and Olympus cameras and manual-mode operation with Sony. Its integrated 2.4 GHz transceiver lets it serve as an on-camera flash, a wireless transmitter for other lights, or an off-camera client flash, making it a flexible building block for anything from event coverage to portable portrait setups.
Output is rated at 80Ws, delivered through a round flash head that produces soft, even coverage compared with the rectangular heads found on many traditional speedlights. Color temperature is held at 6500K (plus or minus 200K) across the full 9-stop power range, helping keep results consistent from shot to shot and light to light. Power can be adjusted in either 0.1 or 1.0 stop increments, so you can make fine adjustments or move quickly through the range.
Flash modes include TTL and manual, with high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second for working with wide apertures in bright conditions, plus front and rear curtain sync. An intuitive 2.4-inch LCD and menu system provide straightforward access to settings, including group assignment and group exposure compensation.
Wireless operation is built around Westcott’s FJ Wireless system. Mounted on camera, the FJ80-SE M can act as both a flash and a transmitter to control other FJ Wireless lights. Off camera, it functions as a client flash that can be triggered by an on-camera FJ80, FJ-X3, or FJ-X2 trigger. Wireless range reaches up to 100 m (328 ft), with reliable performance in high-interference environments such as weddings and events. The flash is also compatible with Westcott’s mobile app for iOS and Android.
Power comes from a removable 2500mAh lithium-ion battery rated for more than 550 full-power flashes per charge, with recycle times of 0.05 to 1.8 seconds. Multi-stage cooling helps the flash keep up during demanding sessions. A USB-C port allows for firmware updates.
Build and handling are designed for real-world use. An all-metal hot shoe provides a secure connection to the camera, and the head tilts and rotates for flexible positioning. A 75mm magnetic mount on the flash head accepts FJ80 magnetic light-shaping accessories, and the flash is compatible with Westcott’s FJ80 Speedlight Insert for use with the Rapid Box Switch line of portable softboxes.
